One World One Music and The Cathedral unite for Worlds Collide, a multidisciplinary evening of live performance and storytelling celebrating Georgia O'Keeffe's formative years in Canyon, Texas.
The program opens with two speakers who bring O'Keeffe's Texas story into focus from very different angles. Amy Von Lintel, O'Keeffe scholar and faculty member at West Texas A&M University, sets the historical scene — illuminating O'Keeffe's life and creative development during her time in Canyon. Monica Ceniceros, owner of The Cathedral ATX, follows with her own story as a Mexican-American woman artist working in modern-day Texas, drawing a direct line between O'Keeffe's legacy and the artists carrying that spirit forward today.
From there, world-class musicians perform two compositions written expressly for this program:
"Unpainted Pictures" by Kincaid Rabb — a six-movement work imagining O'Keeffe's wartime letters as paintings she never finished
"O'Keeffe Suite" by Carrie Magin — a five-movement suite drawn from the paintings O'Keeffe made during her Texas years
Performed by Dr. Kathleen Bell (oboe), Dr. Conor Bell (bassoon), and Dr. Sarah Rushing (piano).
Throughout the experience, select O'Keeffe paintings — projected with permission from the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum — surround the space inside and out, setting the mood for the music and stories unfolding within it.
This event marks a milestone for both organizations: an expanded, partner-driven vision for One World One Music, and The Cathedral's 7th anniversary as a home for women and nonbinary artists in East Austin.

About One World One Music:
In the fall of 2021, One World One Music was started at Studio A--a music school, performance venue and multi-genre rehearsal space. The impetus for creating this series came from the collective experience of the founders as musicians and educators working and living in different parts of the world. As a part of his teaching experiences with the NGO organization called American Voices, Artistic Director Dr. Donald worked with eager students in Lebanon, Kurdistan or other parts of the world many are now referring to as “West Asia” since the term “Middle East” is becoming increasingly scrutinized. Witnessing the impact music has on such a global level, One World, One Music was established to celebrate and amplify these amazing musical traditions from aroun the world. Through thoughtfully crafted programs that are immersive and inclusive, One World One Music combines the universal language of music with cultural stories and their food with the intent of breaking down boundaries and promoting world friendships. The series aims to amplify, educate, inspire and connect various communities, all of which are represented here in ATX. OWOM has curated programs that reach beyond Austin to provide a broader perspective of what classical/cultural music has to offer. At a time when division and divisiveness often feel greater than ever, it is incredibly important to bring people together, even those who may not agree on the surface. We provide a platform for exceptional artists who represent various musical traditions from around the world and compensate them fairly for their amazing artistry. We strive to foster an open dialogue amongst audience members and artists that continues beyond the series into the greater-Austin community.
