Join Inversion Ensemble and The Cathedral in a concert that heralds the arrival of the Thinning Veil featuring two Texas premieres: a Latin mass for a cappella choir and a choral ballet based on Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, brought to life by Inversion Ensemble, ballet dancers, a cellist, and a percussionist. The program begins with “MISA”, a setting of the Latin Mass for a cappella chorus by Filipino composer Ryan Cayabyab, last performed in the US by a Filipino choir in the early 1980s. The second half of the concert unveils “Unfashioned Creature", a choral ballet that takes themes from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein composed by Timothy C. Takach, choreographed by Penelope Freeh, and scored for choir, cello (Carol Anne Bosco), and percussion (Jordan Walsh). A portion of ticket sales from Sacra et Profana will benefit the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), which provides Austin-area musicians with access to affordable health, wellness, and prevention services. This project is supported in part by an Austin Live Music Fund Grant of Austin Arts, Culture, Music, & Entertainment. **SCHEDULE:** **Friday, Oct 23rd:** • VIP Early Access | Doors at 6:30p. Pre-concert talk with composer at 2:45p and cocktail hour. • GA | Doors at 3:30p. Show from 4:00-5:30p including 15 min intermission. Tickets include open bar, meet and greet with artists after the show. **About Inversion Ensemble:** Inversion is a collection of vocal ensembles that focus primarily on new and groundbreaking choral music, with a mission to create art that intersects with and positively impacts humanity. Inversion commissions and performs new works by local musicians as well as U.S. composers and beyond. We exist to make underrepresented voices heard, creating a platform for varied expression by living composers that is accessible to all audiences. Every concert includes a partnership with a non-profit that reflects our core values – ecology, LGBTQIA+ rights, social and racial justice, and mental health awareness.
